Due date for taxable payments annual report – building and construction industry

The due date for lodging the Taxable Payments Annual Report for the building and construction industry has been extended to 28 August for this year onwards.

In order to make completion and lodgement of your return easier you should keep records of:

  • each contractor’s ABN, name and address
  • the total amount paid to them for the year
  • the total GST included in that amount.

This information is generally included in the invoices you receive from your contractors.

You can lodge your Taxable Payments Annual Report by one of the following methods:

  • Online using the Business, Tax Agent and BAS Agent Portals or Standard Business Reporting (SBR). To lodge online you will need an Australian business number (ABN) and an AUSkey (to protect your security and privacy) and accounting software that meets ATO requirements.
  • By completing the paper form Taxable Payments Annual Report (NAT 74109) and mailing it to the ATO.
